About this work

In the clouds, the naked Vespera, the personification of evening. On her head, a crescent moon. Below her, an evening landscape with, in the foreground, some poachers. They are looking for birds that have become entangled in their nets. In the background, workers return home after a day's work. In the margin, a Latin subtitle with an explanation of the evening. The print is part of a four-part series on the parts of the day and the human activities carried out during that part of the day.
