About this work
In a cave the foolish litigant (Litigiosus) lies on his deathbed. He breathes his last breath. Litigation (Lis), with the wings of a devil, flies above his head and steals his soul. Poverty (Pauperies) and Bad Conscience (Conscientia Mala) dig the grave of the litigant, in which hellfire burns. The print has three inscriptions (two in Latin and one in Dutch) and is part of an eight-part series on the abuses in litigation.
