About this work
Bacchus, the god of wine, has stolen the heart of a drunkard, who leans against a small table next to him and vomits. In his hands a jug of wine. Bacchus gives the drunkard's heart to Venus, the goddess of love: once drunk, the drunkard surrenders himself to lust. Next to Venus stands Cupido. Next to Bacchus a satyr with grapes in hand. The print bears a Latin inscription and is part of a four-part series on the consequences of drunkenness.
