About this work
Hercules defeats the Hydra of Lerna with the help of his nephew. He strikes the heads of this multi-headed monster with his club and his nephew sears the necks shut so that no new heads can grow. Hercules is bitten in his foot by a crab. The crabs were sent by Juno to hinder Hercules in his tasks.
