About this work

Bust of Astolfo, a character from Ludovico Ariosto's epic 'Orlando Furioso'. On his head he wears a helmet decorated with acanthus leaves, a braided motif, feathers, and a snake or dragon head. In the upper right, the title and eight Italian verses from the epic.
