About this work
The Church Fathers sit in a church space discussing the question of the holy sacrament of the Eucharist. On the altar stands a monstrance with a host; above it hovers the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. In heaven, the heavenly court convenes over the matter. Christ sits in the center, with Mary and John the Baptist on either side, and figures from the Bible behind him. God the Father and the angelic choir float above the clouds.
