Burnt-out house on the Leidsegracht, at the corner with the Herengracht, in Amsterdam. After the fire on 12 January 1684 during a very severe frost. Extinguished with hose fire engines. With onlookers on the ice of the frozen canal. With two-line inscription in Dutch and French. Plate 17 in the Fire Engine Book by Jan van der Heyden.
