About this work

Christ sits at table with his disciples. He blesses and breaks the bread, causing his disciples to recognize him. On the right a woman offers a glass of wine and under the table lies a dog. Below the scene is a six-line Latin text with a description of the scene and a praise poem for Rubens, in which he is compared to Apelles.
