About this work
Christ sits at table with his disciples. He blesses and breaks the bread, whereupon his disciples recognize him. To the right a woman offers a glass of wine and under the table lies a dog. Below the image is a six-line Latin text with a description of the scene and a panegyric on Rubens, in which he is compared to Apelles.
