About this work

Portrait of Maurice in an oval formed by coats of arms of conquered places. Concord and Prudence hold a laurel wreath above his head. In five small scenes the conquests at Geertruidenberg (1593), Groningen (1594), Turnhout (1597), Sint-Andries (1600) and Nieuwpoort (1600). Further scrollwork, armorial trophies and captured Spanish flags. At the bottom left and right the Lion of Holland with on the left a bundle of arrows and on the right a sword and pike with liberty cap. Further also the coats of arms of the Prince and of the States-General. In the four corners four lines of Latin text.
