About this work
Allegory on the elevation of William IV to hereditary stadtholder and on the Liberal Gift of the fifty-cent coin requested in 1747 to support the country at war. At the top is an allegorical scene with Liberty in the center, fireworks on the left, and on the right the prince accepting the sword of Divine Government. Below the print on the sheet is an explanation of the scene in two columns and a historical account of earlier coins and gifts in the past in three columns.
