About this work

Allegory on the elevation of William IV to stadtholder and on the Liberal Gift of the fiftieth penny requested in 1747 to support the country at war. At the top, an allegorical scene with Liberty centrally, fireworks on the left, and the prince accepting the sword of Divine Government on the right. Below the image on the sheet, an explanation of the scene in two columns and a historical account of earlier tokens and gifts in three columns.
