About this work
Allegory on the elevation of William IV to stadtholder and on the Liberal Gift of the fiftieth penny requested in 1747 to support the country at war. At the top an allegorical representation with Liberty centrally, fireworks on the left, on the right the prince accepts the sword of Divine Government. On the sheet below the plate an explanation of the representation in two columns and a historical account of earlier coins and gifts in the past in three columns.
