Country Woman of France

Countrywoman from France, standing to the left, wearing a tip cap with space for a coiffure on the back of the head on the smooth combed hair. From the neck (on the cap?) hang two loose tails down to under the shoulders. Open bodice with a low, square neckline, shoulder coiffures, long wide, open sleeves in which the shirt is visible and a front panel consisting of several pieces. It seems as if the shirt is widely opened and lies along the sides of the neckline. Hereby a neckerchief with a flat collar that lies over the shoulders and is tucked in from the front in the bodice piece. The open bodice closes at the front with horizontal bands - of which five visible - over the bodice piece. Undecorated turned-back cuffs. Loose ankle-length skirt above the hem decorated with a number of horizontal bands. Long white apron. Open shoes with low heels. On the right arm an open, braided basket.
