About this work
The middle part (the second two blocks of the six) of a wide woodcut, which either served as the model for, or is a copy of, the representation on a tapestry from Castle Michelfeld on the Rhine. On the left three chained young ladies, representing Justice, Truth and Reason. On the right a judge on a chair, with a scroll stating that he has subjugated Justice, Truth and Reason. Before his feet a cradle with a sleeping baby in it, representing Peacefulness.
