About this work
Hosea sits by the road and looks at the landscape behind him. Next to him is his eldest son who is fishing in a stream. To the left in the foreground, his adulterous wife with the two other children of Hosea. To the right, some believers who worship a saint's image in a tree. Below the image, the title in Latin, four four-line verses in Dutch and a reference to the biblical text in Hos. 1:2.
