About this work
Print is after a painting by Cornelis Troost. The painting is an illustration for the farce 'Jan Claasz of de gewaande dienstmaagd', in which Saartje Jans is asked to marry on behalf of Reinier Adriaansz. She listens in on the left. In the inscription of this print the bride and groom are referred to as 'Betsy' and 'John'. Presumably the print illustrates another work here.
