Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Brictius of Tours with glowing coals in a fold of his clothing and Saint Aemilianus Cucullatus who plays his flute, top right Saint Serapion of Alexandria who is thrown from the roof of his house by a crowd, bottom left Saint Eugenius of Paris who pulls a man from the sea onto the shore, bottom right Saint Edmund of Abingdon who gives a ring to an image of Mary. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
