About this work
A crowd of men and horses before St. Peter's is raising the Vatican Obelisk (in 1586). Bottom left: a legend with an explanatory list of numbers and letters and the portrait of Domenico Fontana, the architect who supervised the entire journey and erection of the obelisk.
