About this work

Men and horses are raising the Vatican Obelisk (in 1586) on St. Peter's Square in front of St. Peter's Basilica. In the lower left an explanatory list with numbers and letters and the portrait of Domenico Fontana, the architect who oversaw the entire relocation and erection of the obelisk. Representation framed in an ornamental border.
