About this work

A Roman commander stands with the banner of Rome beside a statue of Minerva. Minerva holds Victory in her hand and at her feet lies the she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus. Under the statue sits a conquered king, in the foreground a river god with a cornucopia. Right a priest with a ring in his hand by an altar. In the background a city is stormed.
