About this work

Satirical print on the conversion of Petrus Bertius, Remonstrant professor at the University of Leiden, to the Roman Catholic faith, 20 June 1620. Bertius, in a kneeling posture, is given a fool's cap by a jester and a monk with donkey ears. On the left, a peddler with books and prints. On the right, Bertius receives the sacrament from a priest. Below the image, a long poem in three columns with a dialogue between two peasants.
