About this work
The holy Dimpna, daughter of the Irish king Damon, prays on her knees before a chapel in the wilderness. Her father and some soldiers attack her but she is protected by the priest Gerebernus. In the background Dimpna is murdered by her father. Her corpse is brought in procession to a church. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series depicting female hermits.
