About this work

In the left background Mary of Edessa. She receives a visit from a man who seduces her. After this visit Mary turns away from her faith. Her uncle, the holy Abraham in the foreground. He prays for his niece. In the background the death of the Holy Abraham. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series with the subject female hermits.
