About this work

A monk visiting the holy Thais, at that time still a courtesan. The monk opens the door and sees her praying before the crucifix. In the background two monks discussing the plan to convert Thais. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series of twenty-four prints with the subject female hermits.
