About this work
Referring to Raphael's 'School of Athens', where scholars from antiquity are in dialogue with each other about scientific matters, here a company in antique dress is occupied with artistic problems. Thus, Cicero must have thought, it went on in an antique workshop, where representatives of the various arts drew from sculpture, in this case an undamaged variant of the Apollo Belvedere.
