About this work

Two scenes. Above a separate border with the blessing of Manasseh and Ephraim, the sons of Joseph. The old Jacob lies in his bed and blesses Ephraim and Manasseh. He does this with crossed hands and predicts a great future for Ephraim, the youngest son of Joseph. Joseph tries to stop him. Below the central scene: on a forum of Rome a Roman citizen holds up a coin and swears before the magistrate that he will adopt the youth standing next to him as a son. Below the scene five Roman coins.
