About this work
Bacchus, crowned with vine leaves and grapes, stands in a landscape holding a thyrsus and a bunch of grapes in his hands. He squeezes the grape bunch and lets the juice be caught in a small bowl held by a maenad. The child sitting with the maenad tries to catch some of the grape juice. In the background on the left, maenads play flutes.
