About this work

John, full-length, a cup in his hand from which a dragon-like creature flies up. In the background right John on the island of Patmos; in the background left John in a pot of boiling oil. This print is part of a series of (probably) 16 prints, consisting of a title page and (probably) 15 portraits, depicting Christ, Mary and the apostles; it concerns a series of mirror-image copies of the so-called 'Great Apostles'.
