About this work
James the Less, full-length, a club in one hand and a book in the other. In the background left James falls from the roof of a temple; in the background right it can be seen how he is beaten to death with a club. This print is part of a series of (probably) 16 prints, consisting of a title page and (probably) 15 portraits, depicting Christ, Mary and the apostles; it concerns a series of mirror-image copies of the so-called 'Great Apostles'.
