About this work
Dido lies dead on a pyre of branches and household goods. To the left in the foreground a woman has fainted from grief. Behind the pyre women on the pavement in front of a house look on in shock. The poster on the pavement to the left of the pyre shows that this print was made for the tragedy "Dido's Death" by Andries Pels.
