About this work
The personification of the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands sits on a throne. She is flanked by Faith, Peace, Navigation, Liberty, Commerce (personified by Mercury), Fortune, and Abundance. The personifications of the four continents offer her gifts. On the right in the foreground, History writing in her book. A woman shows her the medals just made by putti. On the left in the foreground, an open book with the portrait of William III. In the margin, a six-line inscription, in two columns, in French.
