About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) to his mouth and blowing over the pan (the powder reservoir). In his left hand, besides the musket, he holds a burning match. In his right hand, he holds a powder flask. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
