About this work
A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) with his right hand, barrel angled upwards. He is just letting the barrel fall into his left hand, which also holds a burning match. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
