About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, holding a matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand. With his right hand, he presses a burning match against the cock (part of the ignition mechanism) of his musket. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
