About this work
A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) with both hands at his right side, his right index finger on the trigger, barrel angled upwards. In his left hand, besides the barrel of the musket, he holds a burning match. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
