About this work
A soldier on guard, full-length, facing right, holding a matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) with his left hand at his right side, barrel angled upwards. In his left hand, besides the musket, he holds a burning match. He extends his right hand. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
