About this work
A soldier, full-length, facing right, with a matchlock musket (a specific type of firearm) resting on his left shoulder. In his left hand, besides the butt of the musket, he holds a burning match. This is the same position as the one shown in the first print of the series. This print is part of the series of 42 numbered prints of matchlock musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
