About this work

Hercules rescues Hesione from the sea monster. Standing in a boat, Hercules strikes the monster down with his club. Hesione sits to the right, chained to the rock. The print is part of a series of prints that together represent the painted ceiling with the Apotheosis of Hercules in the Hôtel Lambert in Paris.
