About this work

Mary kneeling in a room. She prays the Magnificat. Above her head the tetragram in a radiant cloud. Around her four music-making angels who (from right to left) play the viola da gamba, French horn, transverse flute and viola da gamba. The musical score of the motet by Cornelis Verdonck is visible on two tablets held up by two standing angels (with errors in the musical notation). Right: superius and tenor, left: altus and bassus.
