About this work
Mary in a kneeling posture in a room. She sings her hymn of praise, the Magnificat. Above her head, the tetragram in a radiant cloud. Around her, four music-making angels who (from left to right) play the viola da gamba, French horn, transverse flute, and viola da gamba. The musical piece being played is visible on two tablets held up by two standing angels. On the left, the superius and tenor; on the right, the altus and bassus. Below the image, a reference in Latin to the biblical text in Luc. 1:46. This print is part of an album.
