About this work

George sinks slightly on his knees at the foot of a statue of Apollo. Behind him, the fire-breathing dragon flies. The king rises halfway from his throne, which is placed under a canopy. People look on around. In the foreground, two startled-looking boys with a dog. In the air, a putto and an angel holding a laurel wreath above George's head.
