About this work

View of the Dam with the town hall, the New Church, the Waag and the Damrak, with the shooting by the citizen guard in the rows of the pressing spectators on the Dam, June 28, 1748. On the Waag hang the bodies of the executed man and a woman (Piet van Dort and the lemon and dried scale seller Mat van den Nieuwendijk) due to their role in the Tax Farmers' Riot. On the sheet below the plate a description of the events in two columns.
