About this work

Against a wall stands a sarcophagus on which a man lies deceased. The sarcophagus is flanked by two niches with standing figures. In the middle above is a tondo with a representation of Christ on the clouds. On the sarcophagus: VIVAM; in the middle below in a cartouche against the wall: MORS / SCEPTRA / LIGONIBUS / AE QUAT. Belongs to a series consisting of a title page, a text page and 14 sheets with grotesques with scrollwork, satyrs, garlands, trophies, animals and fantasy creatures.
