About this work
A loving couple walks across a field towards a figure with a torch at a sacrificial pillar. The scene is framed in an ornamental border crowned with an oak tree (left) and a wheat plant (right) and the initials of the couple. On the left side is Mercury and on the right side is Ceres. Between them is an empty cartouche.
