About this work
On ten steps of the ladder of old age, in the form of a bridge, stand ten women in ages from 0 to 100 years. Under the bridge three arches with allegorical representations, in the center 'The Last Judgment'. At the bottom the text: The rise and fall of man, one is sweet and the other frightening. At the top in cartouches two four-line verses in Dutch.
