About this work
In the foreground, the singing Sirens, who lured sailors to their doom. Odysseus has himself tied to the mast, and his men steer the course, having plugged their ears so they do not have to hear the song. In the background, Odysseus' ship passes the sea monster Scylla, who devours six of his men.
