In the Schepenzaal (Aldermen's Hall) of the Town Hall on the Dam, various figures are present, mostly men. The aldermen sit in the benches. Some figures are conversing with each other, while others appear to admire the interior. On the ceiling are the family coats of arms of the first aldermen. Below the image is a three-line inscription, in French on the left and in Dutch on the right. In the center of the text is the crowned coat of arms of Amsterdam, held by the Dutch lion.
