About this work
Allegory on the position of William III as savior of the fatherland. In the representation the Dutch Maiden lies sick in bed. At the foot of the bed the Dutch lion before a portrait of William III. Left the praying personification Religion. The visiting physician is probably Constantijn Huygens. Under the print a verse in 3 columns is printed. Archival research has shown that the print was already made in 1665 by Crispijn de Passe the Younger.
