Stained-Glass Window 3 in the St. John's Church, Gouda: The Maid of Dordrecht

The third stained-glass window in the Sint-Janskerk in Gouda, depicting the Dordrecht City Maiden. She sits in her own garden as the center of Holland's territory. Around her are fifteen city coats of arms of cities situated on the borders of the Holland region and the surrounding provinces. Above are Prudence, with mirror and snake, and Temperance, mixing wine with water. At the bottom are Justice with sword and scales, and Constancy with a pillar. These four cardinal virtues refer to Dordrecht's pride in its virtuous governance. The city of Dordrecht was the donor of the stained-glass window to the city of Gouda.
